We have an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant post to join the Vascular Service within Swansea Bay University Health Board. The posts will form part of a team of 10 consultants responsible for the provision of the full complement of vascular surgical services to the South West Wales Regional Vascular Network. The network provides vascular services to the population of South West Wales, comprising a population of circa 1 million, across a large geographical area, stretching from Bridgend in the East to Aberystwyth in the North West. This area includes four health boards (Swansea Bay University Health Board, Hywel Dda University Health Board, and parts of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and Powys Teaching Health Board). We have close links with Swansea University and other University College partners in South Wales, especially in the areas of research and development and multi-professional teaching. We place great emphasis on continuous professional development and will actively support you in the development and achievement of personal goals.
Main duties of the job
The Vascular Network delivers outpatient and diagnostic services at seven other sites across SW Wales, providing local access. Day case procedures are carried out at three sites and all emergency and major elective work for the network takes place in Morriston Hospital, Swansea.
This post will take part in a 1:9 on-call rota based on a model of Surgeon on call and Surgeon of the week responsible for vascular surgical inpatient care in Morriston Hospital.

* Registered with the GMC
* Licensed to practice
* On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Vascular Surgery or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview and have passed exit exam or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State which will allow direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register

* High level of clinical experience and competence in the management of the breadth of common vascular surgical conditions
* Demonstrate adequate surgical experience of index vascular surgical procedures and operations
* Training and experience in endovascular procedures and techniques
* Evidence of teaching and training of post/undergraduate clinical staff
* Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing audit
* Proven track record in undertaking research projects
* Evidence of ability to work well as part of a team and within a multi-disciplinary environment

* Demonstrate adequate surgical experience in renal access surgery
* Logbook demonstrating independent endovascular experience and practice
