A fixed term vacancy has arisen in the Gynaecology department (and treatment centre) for a qualified Band 5 nurse, ideally who has Gynaecology experience, who is enthusiastic, motivated and keen to enhance and develop their skills and knowledge in caring for the gynaecology patient.
We are currently seeking a Band 5 nurse to join our department for 22 hours each week. This could be over 7 days but is likely to be over 3 -4 days.
Our clinics are Monday-Friday, with the possibility of occasional weekend working and rotating to the Gynaecology ward.
We are a forward-thinking department and actively encourage ongoing staff development. Previous Band 5 nurses have developed into specialist nurse roles whilst working with us such as a nurse Colposcopist, early pregnancy nurse and Oncology Nurse specialist.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be appointed to or come with specific skills and knowledge of caring for women attending General Gynaecology clinics, Gynaecology oncology clinics, Colposcopy treatment clinic, and procedures such as Hysteroscopy, Bulkamid and Endometrial Ablation. They would be involved in caring for women in the Early pregnancy and Gynaecology Emergency clinics that run daily.
We have a small Day Surgery Unit where women attend for day case surgery under general anaesthesia, following a miscarriage or attending for a termination of pregnancy. The applicant will be expected to care for these women as well.
The successful applicant will be expected to become competent in running /assisting in all aspects of the department clinics, diagnostic treatments and procedures. Having good interpersonal skills is key.
The department also has specialist Nurse Led clinics, such as Medical Gynae, Colposcopy and Early Pregnancy Assessment clinics.
If you enjoy looking after women and are interested or have knowledge and experience in Gynaecology nursing, this is too good an opportunity to miss. You will need to be flexible with regard to working hours/days as it is not possible to offer fixed days.

Qualifications and Training
* Registered Nurse Part 1,2, 12 State Registered with Nursing & Midwifery Council
Knowledge and Experience
* Nursing & other knowledge: Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified nurse. Understanding of equality & diversity and how to apply it to self.
* Understanding of NMC Code of Practice and requirements of it for own practice & behaviour.
* Nursing experience: To have gained effective experience from student placements.
