We're looking for someone who will be equally, if not more even more than excited, about Distilling at 1881. You'll work closely with our distiller, learning about the production of spirits, bottling and distribution. If you've had some distilling experience before that's great, but it's not essential. At the same time, you'll have the opportunity to show off your knowledge of the world of gin at the 1881 Gin School, as part of this role will be to teach classes and experiences. A really important part of your role will be to show off your knowledge of the world of gin by taking tours and classes with our guests, and attending festivals to talk all about 1881 Gin. The role will cover all corners of distillery operations, providing a great opportunity to expand and develop all aspects of your distilling process knowledge as well as helping the head distiller progress with ongoing development of new products. Every day is different, but typically you could be learning to:
* Understand all aspects of distilling
* Measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
* Checking machinery is good and reporting any problems
* Keeping all production areas spotlessly clean
* Quality assurance on bottling, labelling and packing
* Ensuring quality control standards are met
* Record keeping and reporting
* Getting involved in new product development
* Story telling taking gin tours and experiences
English, maths & a science at higher level is essential.
* A willingness to learn, both practically and in theory.
* You'll have good practical skills and an excellent attention to detail.
* A basic understanding of health & safety and food hygiene procedures.
* Work well as part of a team where great communication is essential.
* You'll be passionate about great service, articulate and engaging.
* Willingness to work in a flexible work pattern.
* A full, clean driving licence.
Expected and Desirable Qualities
* Bar tending or mixology experience.
* Event, sales or marketing experience.
* Articulate and engaging, passionate, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
* A love for gin!
* Working 5 days out of 7, including weekends.
