This pivotal role reflects the growth and complexity of our client base, requiring a strategic leader to oversee a portfolio of customer delivery projects from estimation through to production implementation and handover. The Senior Delivery Manager will play a critical role in ensuring we deliver true impact and value to our customers by managing high-level client relationships, working closely with executive stakeholders, and navigating complex delivery environments. This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record of leading strategic projects, managing uncertainty and risk, and proactively identifying and resolving potential roadblocks. In addition to owning end-to-end delivery, this role involves mentoring and supporting other Delivery Managers, fostering a high-performance culture, and building strong partnerships with delivery partners. What You’ll Be Doing as a Senior Delivery Manager • Strategic Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including client executives and delivery partners, ensuring alignment on objectives and expectations. • Project Leadership: Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects. Navigate high levels of uncertainty and proactively address potential roadblocks with creative solutions. Opportunity to oversee a portfolio of projects, balancing competing priorities across multiple workstreams. • Mentorship: Guide and support other Delivery Managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the delivery team. • Risk and Issue Management: Anticipate, identify, and manage risks and issues across projects, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies. • Resource Planning and Team Coordination: Working with the Portfolio Delivery Manager, allocate resources across respective projects; ensuring efficient utilisation and seamless collaboration among teams, including development, QA, and third-party providers. • Quality Oversight: Ensure all deliverables meet or exceed quality standards. Conduct regular reviews to maintain consistency and excellence across projects. • Executive Reporting: Create and present detailed progress updates, performance metrics, and key insights to internal and external executive stakeholders. • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by incorporating lessons learned, industry best practices, and feedback into the delivery framework. • Budget Ownership: Oversee project budgets across the portfolio, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are optimised. The Skills and Experience Needed for the Senior Delivery Manager Role • Extensive Project Management Experience: Proven ability to manage a portfolio of complex, technical implementation projects with a focus on high-impact outcomes. • Specialty Insurance Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the London and European and US insurance market, its challenges, and its opportunities. • Exceptional Stakeholder Engagement: Confidence and capability in managing relationships with senior management, executives, and external SIs & delivery partners. • Leadership in High-Complexity Environments: Experience leading teams and projects in dynamic, technically demanding software development environments. • Strategic Risk Management: Expertise in identifying and mitigating risks, especially within uncertain and evolving project landscapes. • Agile Delivery Expertise: Strong track record of successfully delivering software projects using Agile methodologies, particularly within global teams. • Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and guide high-performing delivery teams, fostering professional growth and collaboration. • Analytical Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex delivery challenges efficiently. • Client-Centric Mindset: Ability to align delivery strategies with the unique culture and business goals of clients, driving mutual success. • Financial Acumen: Solid experience managing and optimising project budgets to deliver cost-effective solutions. Senior Delivery Manager Interview Process Our recruitment process for Senior Delivery Manager role is a minimum of four stages: Stage 1 - Intro call with our in-house recruiter, Liam (30 minutes) - This will cover your background, motivations and communication, along with a chance to get to know Send and the role better. Stage 2 - Interview with our Portfolio Delivery Manager (45 minutes) - This will be run by Jo McGlynn.
