We are looking for an Assistant Borough Solicitor. In this role you will be a highly experienced lawyer, as well as a senior manager and leader with service delivery, statutory and corporate responsibilities.
Reporting directly to the Borough Solicitor the role will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the property, contracts and General Law function (which includes Adult Services) within legal services, including all working procedures and practices, as well as ensuring the Council's statutory compliance with all legislation affecting local government, its services and corporate governance.
You will have a good working knowledge of the ethical framework and constitutional requirements required of a complex organisation, including attendance at committees, and be accustomed to advising members and officers at all levels.
You will have experience of Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman complaints, and the Information Commissioner's office, along with advising and overseeing on regeneration projects and leading on complex major litigation.
We are looking for a strong, credible leader who has passion and determination and a desire to learn.
You will have demonstrable post qualification experience as a Qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Member of ILEX. You will also be required to provide evidence of management experience in a complex organisation.
