Senior Practitioner (AMHP Qualified) - Emergency Duty Service

£45,217 to £54,395 per annum

Working Style: Fixed-base worker

There is an additional 15% flat rate allowance based on the basic salary and a £2,400 AMHP payment with this role.

The Emergency Duty Service
Who are we?
We are the Emergency Duty Service, working outside of normal hours, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays. Our team consists of experienced Managers and Practitioners, all qualified as Approved Mental Health Professionals, enabling us to conduct emergency assessments under the Mental Health Act. We also have experienced advisors who screen calls, gather information, and provide advice or redirect calls to the Social Work team. We operate on a 7-day shift rota, responding to emergencies for Essex and Southend Borough Council. Our support team works during office hours to ensure smooth handovers to day services.

We find it rewarding to help vulnerable adults and children out of hours, providing effective services for urgent situations. It is fulfilling to offer advice and support to other professionals working in emergencies.
The Experience You Will Bring
* Social Work Degree or equivalent and Social Work England registration as a qualified Social Worker.
* Qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional under the 1983 Mental Health Act (as amended).
* Experience working directly with children and families, preferably in child protection investigations.
* Experience and knowledge of working with vulnerable adults.
* Experience in a Duty Team.
* Able to work under pressure and organize practice workload effectively.
* Effective communication skills in writing and orally.
* Ability to empower children and their carers for full participation.
* Knowledge of current Community Care practice and multi-agency systems for Older People and vulnerable adults.
* Understanding of relevant policy and recent research findings across all client specialisms.
* Commitment to anti-oppressive behavior and practice.
* Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, recognizing management responsibilities.
* Flexibility in approach to work and duties.
The role requires mobility throughout Essex and beyond, including transporting service users. A driving license and car or ability to meet mobility requirements are essential.
