GSL Education are actively seeking an SEN English Teacher for a placement at a secondary school in Portsmouth. The school caters to students aged 11-16 who face complex learning challenges, often coupled with conditions like autism, speech and communication disorders, and various medical issues. As a SEN English Teacher, your responsibilities will be to:
1. Plan and execute engaging and creative lessons for secondary students, tailored to diverse learning needs.
2. Demonstrate positive behaviour and serve as a role model for students, effectively managing challenging behaviours when they arise.
3. Offer one-to-one or small group support for students with special needs, facilitating their access to the curriculum.
4. Conduct small group interventions to reinforce learning goals effectively.
5. Assist in maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and managing behaviours.
6. Employ strategies for equitable access to education for students with additional needs.
Requirements for the SEN English Teacher role:
1. Proven experience working with students with SEN.
2. Possess a recognised teaching qualification in the UK or have relevant experience.
3. Experience teaching English.
4. Energetic and patient with strong classroom management skills.
5. Hold the right to work in the UK.
6. A full checkable work history.
To work with GSL Education as a SEN English Teacher, you should:
1. Have the right to work in the UK.
2. Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
3. Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
