Higher Level Estates Maintenance Worker (Fitter/Plumber)

The Fitter/Plumber post will be based at Wrightington Hospital, working 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours each day, plus on-call 1 in 4 and overtime requirements.
The post holder will be a person with thorough training and experience in mechanical services, plant, and equipment, who is able to work on their own initiative and without supervision.
The post holder will demonstrate leadership skills and will be multi-skilled across a range of technical engineering and building skill areas within the maintenance function.
You will need to be committed to flexibility and the continuing development of technical knowledge and new skills.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Assist and support multi-skilled crafts persons on new and routine maintenance repair tasks.
2. Supervise maintenance assistants and provide guidance and training where required.
3. Carry out routine PPM duties on a range of complex and specialised building and engineering plant and equipment.
4. Use fine tools and specialist equipment while demonstrating knowledge of safe working practices and ensuring the security of all plant equipment and buildings.
5. Assist higher skilled grades as necessary and liaise with subcontractors when required.
6. Drive the works vehicle to complete the duties of the post.
7. Effectively carry out appropriate duties as part of the Trust's Fire Response, Lift Release, Major Incident, and Emergency On-Call Teams.

Job Responsibilities
The post holder will carry out statutory testing and Planned Preventative Maintenance and repairs on complex mechanical services and equipment and complete relevant statutory records. This will require a complete understanding of complex engineering systems, plant, and equipment in NHS buildings, such as but not limited to:
* HVAC Systems
* Chilled Water Systems
* Building Management Systems
* Ultra-Portable Systems (POD)
* Standby Generation Units and Controls
* Lift Equipment
* Metal Fabrication
* Welding
* Swimming Pool Maintenance
* Compressed Air Systems
The post holder must be willing to undertake training and/or be familiar with the following regulations and codes of practice:
* Asbestos Regulations and Asbestos Non-Licensable Work
* Working at Height Training Including PASMA & IPAF & Scaffolding
* Medical Gases (CP) Training
* Safe Release from Lift Training
* First Aid Course
* Steam Boiler Operative (BOAS) Course
* Swimming Pool Maintenance
Person Specification
Experience
* Completed a recognised mechanical apprenticeship.
* Experience working across several trades.
Qualifications
* Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Qualified in other trades.
Skills
* Ability to work with other trades and unsupervised.
* Wider knowledge/interests related to construction, maintenance, and repair.
Additional Requirements
* Speak English to an appropriate standard relevant to their role, i.e., with confidence and accuracy, using correct sentence structures and vocabulary, and without hesitation.
* UK Driving license.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum, pro rata.
