Purpose of the Role:
Bristol Bears Community Foundation brings Bristol Bears RFC to the heart of communities, using the power of the club and our passionate team to inspire the community to unlock their potential and improve their lives.
In this position, as the Head of Projects and Development, you will be responsible for the strategic design, development, and implementation of our work, whilst overseeing the operational management of BBCF work across our thematic areas of delivery. You will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and key stakeholders to ensure that delivery is innovative, impactful, and sustainable, whilst ensuring that all delivery meets the highest standards and effectiveness.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Strategic Support and Programme Management:
* Provide day-to-day strategic support and operational management across the areas of Education and Skills, Health and Wellbeing, Inclusion, and Community Rugby.
* Ensure operational delivery is fully aligned with programme delivery plans.
* Submit quarterly KPI reports to evidence impact and alignment with strategic goals.
Budget Management:
* Prepare and submit annual programme budgets for CEO approval.
* Support departmental managers in budgetary management, including setting, monitoring, and ensuring adherence to financial controls.
Income Generation:
* Create and drive income generation for all thematic areas.
* Secure new funding partnerships and sponsorships annually.
Leadership and Team Management:
* Provide effective leadership to departmental managers through 1:1 support, objective setting, appraisals, and continuous professional development.
* Oversee the recruitment of team members capable of achieving strategic objectives.
Reporting and Compliance:
* Ensure accurate and timely submission of project reports and financial returns.
* Oversee data input into the monitoring platform, ‘Upshot,’ and ensure comprehensive project reporting.
Safeguarding and Risk Management:
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies.
* Conduct risk assessments and uphold the highest safeguarding standards.
Equality and Diversity:
* Promote equality and diversity across all programmes and within the team.
General Responsibilities:
* Deputise for the Chief Executive Office in their absence.
* Represent the foundation professionally at all times.
* Collaborate with marketing and media teams to highlight success stories.
Key Performance Indicators
* 100% alignment of operational delivery with programme plans.
* Achievement of income generation and partnership targets.
* Submission of timely and error-free reports.
* Low staff turnover and high completion of professional development activities.
* Zero incidents of non-compliance with safeguarding policies.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Degree or evidence of relevant continuous professional development.
* Experience in managing staff, programmes, and budgets.
* Proven success in a senior leadership position, setting strategic directions and KPIs.
* Strong track record in developing partnerships and delivering impactful projects.
* Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
* Access to a vehicle with a valid UK driver’s license.
