CNC Applications Engineer – Milling/Grinding Location: Coventry & Overseas Travel Required Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm Key Requirements: Experience with CNC programming and setting (preferably Siemens 840D, 3-5 Axis). Strong background in grinding and machining components to drawing. Experience with machine programming and setup for grinding of customer parts. Ability to read and interpret component drawings and work to precise tolerances. Experience with CNC machine operation (Siemens 840D preferred). Grinding experience (such as threads, worms, and gears) is an advantage. Basic knowledge of reading machine parts lists, assembly and mechanical drawings, and electrical drawings. Willingness to travel and work at global customer facilities. Strong communication skills for customer training and support. Competence with office software and report/documentation completion. Role Overview: Our established Coventry-based client is seeking an experienced CNC Applications Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC machine tool programming and setting, with a focus on milling and grinding operations. This role involves machine programming, setup, testing, installation, and customer training both at the company's facility and on-site at global customer locations. Key Responsibilities: Write and understand CNC programs, primarily using Siemens 840. Grind and machine components according to customer drawings and specifications. Program and set up machines for grinding of customer parts. Develop processes to optimise machine cycles and improve efficiency. Install NC standard machine cycles and operational data for testing. Conduct full functional testing of machines following internal test procedures. Prepare machines and equipment for PDI and installation at customer locations. Install machines, conduct tests, and train customers at their facilities globally. Provide technical sales support to the team, including time studies and tooling advice.
