We are seeking an experienced H&S Manager to join our South West team. Key responsibilities include performance monitoring, upholding top Health & Safety standards, and delivering an exceptional customer journey. You will report into the Construction Director and oversee the management of several development sites, supporting the site management and on-site teams, and maintaining a flow of information between regional departments and site. Your key focus should be on achieving targets in health and safety, quality, customer care and cost, including all associated pre and post housebuilding works.
Key responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies.
2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits across the South West region to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
3. Provide advice and support to site managers and construction teams on all matters relating to health, safety, and welfare.
4. Lead investigations into incidents, ensuring root causes are identified, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
5. Deliver health and safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
6. Maintain accurate records of incidents, near-misses, and safety observations, producing reports for senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
7. Develop and maintain emergency response plans for all construction sites.
8. Stay up to date with changes to health and safety regulations and ensure timely implementation of any required changes.
9. Promote a positive safety culture across the organisation, driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
Key Requirements:
1. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
2. Proven experience in a health and safety role within the construction or housebuilding industry.
3. Thorough knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
4. Strong understanding of risk assessment, hazard identification, and safety auditing processes.
5. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence teams at all levels.
6. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South West region.
7. Experience in delivering training and conducting investigations.
8. Chartered membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
9. Experience in housebuilding or residential construction projects.
10. First aid certification or other relevant safety qualifications.
