Electronics Engineer (Product Support)
Location: Rochester
Salary: £44,000 - £50,000 per annum + 5% bonus
We are seeking an enthusiastic Electronics Engineer to join our Design and Product Support team. In this role, you will contribute to solving complex challenges by providing exceptional product support and technical expertise for our advanced metering and data acquisition solutions. These solutions serve the power and energy industries, and our team is responsible for both hardware and software aspects, delivered either in-house or via trusted third-party vendors. The role will involve working with a variety of clients and supporting internal teams across project delivery and field installations.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Support: Deliver internal training sessions to design engineers and field teams on our products, ensuring their understanding and competency.
Client Interaction: Engage with internal teams and external customers to resolve technical issues, including complex network, protocol, and data interfacing problems.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical reference materials, manuals, and training documents.
System Configuration: Assist in configuring systems to meet specifications, mostly in a workshop setting with occasional on-site visits (UK driving license required).
Pre-Sales Support: Participate in pre-sales activities by interfacing with clients and providing technical insights.
Factory Acceptance Testing: Conduct factory acceptance testing in the presence of customers, ensuring product functionality aligns with client expectations.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve system faults, focusing on hardware and configuration issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
A degree or equivalent qualification in electronic engineering or a related discipline.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, inquisitive mindset.
Solid understanding of network systems, including configuring switches and VLANs, with hands-on experience.
Proficient in PC applications, including standard Windows software and manufacturer-specific tools. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles is a plus.
Experience with electronic hardware and interfaces (e.g., RS232, RS485, microprocessors).
Ability to transform technical concepts into repeatable, practical solutions .
Familiarity with communication protocols such as IEC104, Modbus, and DLMS is desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
