Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Location: Lincoln Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Full-Time GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) in Lincoln who has a healthcare or support worker background and is eager to support children and young people with diverse learning needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and other complex needs. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in care settings, mental health support, social work, or working with neurodivergent individuals. About the Role: As an SEN TA, you will work one-on-one or in small groups with students, helping them to engage in lessons, develop life skills and build confidence in their abilities. You will play a crucial role in implementing personalised support plans, behaviour strategies and sensory interventions to ensure that students can learn, communicate and interact comfortably within a structured educational environment. SEN TA Responsibilities: Offer individualised support to students with special educational needs, disabilities and social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH). Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), behaviour management strategies and structured learning interventions. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to support student progress and well-being. Support students in communication, sensory regulation, emotional well-being and classroom engagement. Encourage independence, confidence and social interaction through structured activities and positive reinforcement. Provide support for students with speech and language difficulties, physical disabilities, or complex needs. Help manage challenging behaviours and anxiety, using de-escalation techniques and a calm, proactive approach. Assist in creating and maintaining an inclusive, nurturing and structured learning environment. SEN TA Job Requirements: Previous experience in healthcare, social care, or support work (e.g., care assistant, mental health worker, youth worker, support worker). Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, sensory processing needs and learning disabilities. Ability to use calm, structured and empathetic approaches when supporting students with challenging behaviours or emotional needs. Strong resilience, patience and ability to build trusting relationships with students. A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive in an educational setting. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices in supporting students with SEN. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one). Why Join GSL Education?
