Salary: UH6 £32,296pa pro rata to £37,999pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: de Havilland Campus (Maclaurin or Enterprise Hub)
The Heritage Hub at the University of Hertfordshire was established in 2010 to co-ordinate and link heritage research and public engagement-related activity across the University with heritage institutions and community groups across the region. The Heritage Hub has been awarded funding through the University’s Arts & Humanities Research Council Impact Acceleration Account (AHRC IAA) to increase our heritage-related networking and stakeholder engagement activities to establish and consolidate strategic local and regional partnerships. The Policy & Community Engagement Officer (Heritage Hub) will sit in the Impact Team – part of the newly established Research and Enterprise Services directorate – and will work with members of the Heritage Hub across the University.
This post is offered part-time at 0.6 FTE and will require some flexibility to attend meetings with external partners outside core hours, including evenings and weekends. In these situations, pre-approved time off in lieu is given, by prior agreement with your line manager.
Main duties and responsibilities
This role will include supporting networking and research events for both internal and external audiences, liaising with and attending meetings of external partner bodies such as Hertfordshire Association for Local History, Hertfordshire Cultural Education Partnership, etc. and supporting AHRC IAA-funded co-produced research events with administrative and comms support, liaising with other University departments such as Marketing and Communications where necessary. You will also work with the Impact Team to develop a strategy for evidence curation, gather evidence from current Heritage Hub projects and partnerships and identify opportunities for impact evidence from future project proposals.
Skills and experience required
Experience of working within a Higher Education Institution, research funder, charity, or similar organisation OR experience of working within the heritage sector is essential for the role. You should also have experience of stakeholder engagement or convening networks and experience planning and prioritising deadline driven work. Knowledge of current issues in the heritage sector is essential, along with the ability to interact with internal academic and professional staff, heritage institutions and community members. You must have the ability to represent the University in an appropriate professional manner at external events.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent, or substantial proven professional work experience in a relevant area to the role.
