Filmmaker for Cultural Heritage Project – Band on The Wall

Band on the Wall is seeking a passionate and skilled Freelance Filmmaker to lead the creation of a series of films that explore the musical heritage of people who have come to Manchester as migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. These films will highlight both the shared and unique experiences of these communities, using live performance footage, interviews, archival film, and animation. The project will aim for 20,000 online views over 5 years post-release, reaching audiences globally via Band on the Wall’s digital platforms, including YouTube, social media, and the Band on the Wall website.
The films will also be displayed on Band on the Wall’s exterior display screens, contributing to an online and public resource that celebrates Manchester’s evolving cultural heritage, particularly the impact of migration.
Project Timeline:
1. Project Start Date: February-March 2025
2. Premiere of Finished Work: February 2026
