About the Role
This is an interim role within the Curriculum team, the duration will be 6 months initially with the possibility of that extending to the end of 2025. There is a short term and urgent need to manage the files that support our existing backlist as we move to a new set of suppliers enabling our printing and logistics.
We are moving our print and distribution from a primarily UK based setup to a mixed model with some printing still in the UK but moving a significant proportion of our work locally to the Caribbean. This change reduces our distribution costs and reduces the carbon footprint of books printed and delivered locally but requires the establishment of new supplier relationships and working practices.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure that files at new print sizes are correctly stored in the publishing system
2. Check for and correct inconsistencies in file naming conventions
3. Check source files for most current versions of logos and other standard data
4. Ensure the supply of the correct files to printers ahead of new print runs
5. Ensure the supply of e-book files to in-house digital teams and 3rd party distributors
6. Run technical checks on print and digital products
7. Maintain and update title data on in-house systems for packs, print and digital products
8. Assist in list management tasks
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
1. The role requires an experienced and confident data administrator, with a background in Publishing, and a good understanding of relevant business environments where critical data is managed across multiple systems and data integrity is business critical.
2. The role requires someone who can work accurately and quickly across a large set of information, ensuring the quality of their work and maintaining excellent communications with a range of business contacts who are reliant on that data.
3. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are also pre-requisite of the role; the jobholder will be the key point of contact with 3rd party print and logistics providers.
4. The role requires previous data quality experience, ensuring data is accurate, complete, consistent and reliable for effective usage.
5. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate the capacity to identify issues, brainstorm solutions and implement the most effective course of action.
