What's involved with this role: Title: Temporary Business Support Officer/ Admin - Note Taking Job Ref: Bristol 5255662 Pay Rate: £13.93 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months City: BRISTOL Standard DBS disclosure required Meetings are in person at various BCC sites in Bristol, so candidates will need to be flexible and be able to either drive or use public transport. Normally there is one conference a day either morning or afternoon after which the candidate will write up notes. Some conferences will be shorter and on some occasions, may ask candidates to cover two conferences in a day, but will allow necessary time for writing up notes. Candidates should be aware that the conferences deal with difficult conversations and should have the skills needed to note take and resilience to sensitive and sometimes distressing information. The role is a Business Support Officer to support notetaking in Safeguarding Children’s Case Conferences, Adult Safeguarding meetings, Fostering Panel and support to Disabled Colleague's Network. Key Responsibilities: Provide a range of business support services for one or more service areas, taking ownership and responsibility. Make real time service decisions in response to operational issues in line with local procedures and established guidance. Carry out specific administrative tasks requiring a discrete skill or in-depth knowledge base. Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers and stakeholders including escalated issues, resolving at the point of contact where possible. Prepare and provide documentation and information. Check service delivery and processes are in line with local guidance and legislation. Communicate effectively with colleagues, senior management, internal customers and external agencies. Qualifications: Relevant level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ level 3, BTEC, relevant A levels etc. and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and understanding through experience. Knowledge: Working knowledge of business support systems and procedures. Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation. Experience of developing effective business support systems and procedures - desirable Skills & Abilities: Good literacy and numeracy skills. Minute taking skills. Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise a diverse workload. Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in ways that promote understanding including the ability to converse with citizens and provide advice in accurate spoken English, or through a BSL interpreter Able to work well as part of a team by communicating effectively with colleagues and have a willingness to assist where needed. Ability to deliver work to agreed targets and standards. Ability to solve problems and to make balanced decisions in relation to own work area.
