This is an exciting time to join DHC as we work in our new federated leadership model with Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with a joint Chair and Chief Executive across both trusts. Were also working with our GP Alliance to develop health and care services focused on addressing the specific needs of our diverse neighbourhoods across the county.
As Chief Operating Officer you will play an important part within our executive team and on DHCs Board, empowering colleagues to deliver the highest levels of operational performance and ensure consistency across our services.
Your highly developed relationship-building and communication skills will be a key strength, as will an excellent understanding of how to deal compassionately with potentially sensitive, contentious and complex issues at the most senior level.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Training
* Educated to degree level or equivalent with relevant management qualification or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of the national NHS and social care strategy, regulation, governance and policy requirements and able to translate this to local relevance and action.
Job Specific Experience
* Experience of Management in a leadership position at or close to the Board level of a complex organisation, preferably NHS.
* Experience of leading and managing service transformation and change with a proven track-record of achieving improvement in quality and safety.
* Experience of developing an organisational culture that promotes clinical engagement in decision making and leading continuous change and improvement in services, encouraging the use of new clinical and service technologies.
* Experience of representing an organisation to external stakeholders and partners including the media.
* Previous experience as Chief Operating Officer operating at Board level.
* Experience in working with the CQC to make demonstrable improvements.
Managerial/Supervisory Experience
* Previous experience of the full range of line management responsibilities, including attendance management, discipline and grievance, management of recruitment & selection, personal and career development.
* Experience of building and leading a high performing team, with emphasis on innovation, quality improvement, productivity and efficiency, and achievement of quality, safety, financial and operational targets.
* Experience of managing budgets up to £3M.
* Demonstrable evidence of rigorous financial management/control.
Information Technology
* Standard of Advanced IT skills, normally obtained through practice or practical training.
* Experience of adapting/designing/developing information systems.
* Able to use computer software programmes to develop or create statistical reports using formulae.
Personal Qualities/Attributes
* Proven ability to build personal and professional credibility.
* Motivated by achieving outcomes that benefit service users, carers and the organisation.
* Results orientated, resilient with strong personal integrity and a commitment to a culture of responsibility and accountability.
