Job Opportunity:
This is a great opportunity to join the manufacturing engineering team at the Shrewsbury Facility during an exciting period of growth. The business unit is transitioning from a traditional stall build process to an MES integrated assembly flowline due to an increase in customer demand.
Reporting to the manufacturing engineer, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the project team tasked with implementing the new assembly line and test facility. In this varied role, you will also offer technical expertise at product level on the shop floor, becoming the go-to person for problem resolution, while identifying new opportunities for process improvement.
What you will do:
* Provide technical support to the manufacturing engineer through data analytics and problem solving.
* Providing support for continuous improvement processes.
* Train, coach, and provide feedback to the Operations team on the assembly process.
* Define and optimize assembly process steps and standard work based on best practice.
* Review assembly processes to keep team focused on key priorities and improvement objectives.
* Perform audits to ensure materials, processes, and tools conform to quality standards.
* Submit and assist with the resolution of continuous improvement ideas.
* Provide information to supervisors and managers about processes within assigned area.
* Respond to engineering related line calls to support the assembly process.
* Investigate and resolve Manufacturing Engineering defects and other quality improvement initiatives.
* Participate and support Failure mode analysis such as safety and process FMEA activities.
* Assist in the development and improving of work instructions and standard work for the assembly processes.
* Design, develop and identify appropriate tooling for new and existing assembly processes.
* Carry out investigations and repairs on warranty engines in the field.
What you will have:
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
* Standard technical engineering/craft apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21 (Apprenticeship relevant to the role).
* Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent Certification.
* Demonstrate planning, organising skills, adaptability, and flexibility.
* Team player resilience with customer focus efforts.
* Experience as a skilled person within engine assembly or test.
Top candidates will also have:
* Formal lean, six sigma, lean six sigma training.
* Familiarity of production and manufacturing routings.
* MRP experience.
* Experience of new product introduction.
* Project management experience.
