Your new company Chambers are a well-respected, Guildford based company who specialise in providing waste collection, management and recycling services. There are two main sites; Guildford at Slyfield industrial estate where the start of the art recycling centre and purpose built head office are based and the Runfold site in Farnham which recycles and sells aggregates to the construction sector. Your new role This key role based across both the Guildford and Farnham site will see you take responsibility of running the finance department on a day to day basis, reporting into the Finance Director. You will be taking on the delivery of timely, high quality management accounting for both companies in the group; Chambers Waste and Chambers Runfold. In addition, you will be leading, supporting and developing a team of 8 who look after the accounting for the business including purchase ledger, sales ledger, billing and accounts preparation to trial balance. The management accounts you produce are key for the Directors to take commercial decisions and will include a summary with P&L, cost centre reports, variances to prior year and statistical business reports/analysis. You will be using Sage 200 and Excel on a day to day basis alongside bespoke systems used in Operations. During the month, you’ll also partner closely with the FD to identify and spot areas of commercial risk and opportunity and work to continuously evolve and improve processes. This is a broad role with plenty of scope What you'll need to succeed In addition to your finance qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) you should have strong experience in management accounting and working in an SME, family run environment. This role is hands on so you need to be comfortable and happy getting stuck into all areas of the business and managing the finance department on a day to day basis. Whist the accounts team are very experienced, prior team leadership experience is essential for success. You will be based mainly in the Guildford site with travel 1 to 2 days a week to the Farnham site therefore you must be based locally, with access to transport.
