Job Summary:
As a Practice Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and assisting in various financial services. A key aspect of this role will be the preparation and review of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with VAT regulations. You will work closely with clients, providing them with expert advice, and helping them to navigate complex VAT issues.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparation, submission, and review of VAT returns for clients, ensuring full compliance with HMRC requirements.

Review and manage VAT-related issues, including the preparation of VAT control accounts and reconciliation.

Assist clients with VAT planning, advice, and compliance, ensuring they understand the implications of VAT legislation on their business.
*
Liaise with clients to gather necessary documentation and information for VAT returns and accounting purposes.
*
Provide support with tax investigations and assist in responding to queries from HMRC.
*
Maintain accurate client records, ensuring all financial data is up-to-date and easily accessible.
*
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management accounts.
*
Work closely with the senior management team to ensure clients receive exceptional service and advice.
*
Stay updated with current VAT laws and regulations and their impact on client businesses.
*
Ensure clients’ accounting practices and VAT compliance are efficient and cost-effective.
Key Requirements:

ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
*
Proven experience in VAT returns preparation and review.
*
Strong understanding of VAT legislation and its application in practice.
*
Experience in a similar practice-based role is highly desirable.
*
Ability to manage a varied client portfolio and prioritize workload effectively.
*
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly to clients.

Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, etc.) and Microsoft Office.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
*
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
