The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation programme is part of a national strategy to improve maternity across the NHS in England. The Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigation (MNSI) programme, formerly the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) maternity programme, moved to be hosted by the CQC on the 1 October 2023. T he maternity programme commenced under HSIB in April 2018, following the request from the then Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. The programme is part of the overall national maternity ambition to improve maternity safety and reduce harm by 50% by 2025. The programme was fully rolled out across England by April 2019. In 2022, a commitment was made to continue the programme for a further 5 years, there is currently 3 years of this term remaining. What you will bring… As the MNSI clinical director, you will provide expert advice to the MNSI Director in order to establish and lead the clinical advisory team ensuring investigations are representative of current clinical practice and reflective of national guidance. This is an opportunity to provide clinical leadership to the MNSI programme whilst acting as an ambassador for MNSI at both national and international levels. In addition, the role will be integral to the Programme Leadership Team to support and inform the strategic decision of the programme.
