About the Role/Role Overview
As a Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students develop critical thinking skills and a strong understanding of their subject. You will be expected to create an inclusive learning environment, adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students and contribute to the school's broader academic and pastoral goals.
Responsibilities of the Humanities Teacher:
Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in History, Geography, or Religious Studies that inspire and challenge students.
Foster a stimulating and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and critical analysis.
Assess, record and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to aid development.
Differentiate lesson content to cater to varying learning abilities and educational needs.
Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, field trips, or academic projects.
Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and engagement, in line with school policies.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the Humanities curriculum.
Requirements of the Humanities Teacher: To be considered for this role, you must have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching Humanities subjects (History, Geography, or Religious Studies) at secondary level.
A strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons.
Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to differentiate teaching methods for diverse learners.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
