Position: Head of Business Development and Facilities Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire Hours: 30 hours to be taken flexibly over Monday – Friday (possible increase in hours with funding) Salary: £41,019 pro rata (5% pension contribution), 33 days of annual leave entitlement (inclusive of bank holidays) pro rata Contract type: Permanent Reportable to: CEO Direct reports: Facilities officers and other relevant roles as developed Job Purpose The Head of Business Development is a dynamic new role being introduced to the executive team at Barnsley CVS. This person will play a pivotal role in the growth and development of the executive team. You will play an exciting part in the creation of the next 3-year strategy with the opportunity to drive forwards new income streams and business opportunities in line with the organisational strategy. You will need to have the confidence to inspire others to have assurance in your ideas; negotiate beneficial opportunities for both the sector and the CVS and ensure strong team work and partnership working across the executive team, the staff team and the wider sector. For many years, the CVS has been heavily reliant on contract income from the council. You will provide strategic leadership and work with the CEO and the executive team to diversify and strengthen our income generation using commercial, statutory and charitable income opportunities. As one of our current commercial income streams includes our two buildings, this role will also be responsible for developing and overseeing the management of these buildings. Experience of this is desirable not essential as the organisation will work with the successful post holder to develop this knowledge if necessary. Your role will include identification and creation of new opportunities; leading on tenders and applications; work with team members with commercial responsibility to increase revenue and ensure strong alignment between our income and charitable aims. As the role develops, you will create and make recommendations for new processes and procedures as relevant to the role. You will keep up to date with new initiatives in Barnsley and the wider infrastructure sector, new relevant legislation and modern thinking in relation to best practice in business development.
