New Balance is offering a 1-year paid undergraduate placement to an undergraduate student, currently in the penultimate year of study, with a passion for Football and Design.
The role will provide support for Footwear, Apparel, Equipment, and accessories categories with a focus on Innovation, In-Line, Market SMU, Licensed SMU and Athlete propositions. Training and support will be given, and you will gain a broad knowledge of a global business.
This Placement opportunity will start on Monday 16th June 2025 and will be based in the Head Office (Warrington) full time.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Product creation for Innovation, Inline, E&A
1. Creation of moodboards and concept during innovation explorations (innovation review phase) and seasonal creation (design review phase)
2. Seasonal color exploration on 2D linearts (illustrator) and 3D assets (MODO)
3. Responsible for the creation of colour ups Tech Packs (no graphic updates / no material updates) and sample review with the development team
4. Assisting designers and innovation engineer with the creation of wear test tech packs and trials
5. Assisting designers with the creation of canvas series projects (retail partners & collaboration)
6. Working closely with the development team for the creation of market overview and competitor benchmark. Assisting in material exploration and trial tech packs
7. Accelerating the integration of emerging design software (virtual reality – Gravity sketch, artificial intelligence – Vizcom)
Content creation
1. Creation of PPM content following completion of Tech Packs following each stage gate
2. Creation of modo renders for GTM decks – both still and moving images (from simple turntable to more complex animation)
3. Working closely with the PM team assisting the creation of GTM decks
4. Working closely with the gaming team to collect and provide information, artwork and content to help the creation of 3D assets for both Footwear and E&A with our esports partners. Working with Design Managers to review and sign-off the created assets.
5. Creation of 3D assets (MODO) for lower tier products (T2, T3, T3 JNR) and/or managing the creation of 3D assets by third parties (MODO factory FTV).
Athlete Services
1. Creation and update of athlete Tech Packs for the XTR process, working closely with the Development manager and Sport marketing team
2. Creation of design concepts, tech packs and sampling for the elite 30-day boot program
3. Creation of EFOS player pitch decks
4. Assisting designers with the creation of FOS & FOB player pitch decks (moodboard, research, storytelling, logo & concept ideation)
5. Assisting designers with the creation of canvas series projects (athlete SMUs)
Licensed E&A
1. Assisting the E&A design manager in the creation of seasonal licensed SMUs and tech pack creation
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
1. Studying towards a degree in a relevant design subject. For example, Footwear Design, Product Design, Fashion Design or Graphic Design
2. Must be able to provide right to work in the UK
3. Passion for football and the football industry with proven interest in the sport
4. Passion for performance product design (footwear, apparel, equipment & accessories)
5. Familiar with Adobe suite software (or other creative suites) is preferred
6. Experience in 3D modelling and rendering (modo / rhino / keyshot / blender) and parametric design a plus (grasshopper)
7. Interest in emerging design software (virtual reality – Gravity sketch, artificial intelligence – Vizcom)
8. Hand and Digital sketching capability (procreate or photoshop)
9. Project management skills and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
10. High level of attention to detail
11. Effective communication skills, including comfortable presenting to an audience
12. Problem solving mindset
13. Team player.
