Field Service Engineer – South East
At Infinis, we are deeply committed to sustainability. We operate a range of low-carbon energy generators, capturing methane from landfill gas and disused mines to convert it to electricity. Our flexible generation supports the National Grid through local power stations, battery energy storage systems (BESS) technology, and solar power. We are on a journey to support the UK’s goal of net zero by 2050. If you're passionate about sustainability and want to make a difference, Infinis is the place for you, where your work will directly contribute to our shared goal of a sustainable future.
Your role
As part of our highly skilled field-based operations team, you will play a crucial role in our mission. Your primary responsibilities will be to provide exceptional technical support by performing comprehensive preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance on our fleet gas reciprocating engines and related plant to ensure equipment is functioning optimally and address any issues that arise. You will be instrumental in identifying early warning signs of engine malfunctions, fault-finding, rectification, and dismantling and rebuilding engines, which will be crucial in overhauling all associated plant equipment.
At Infinis, we deeply value your experience and ambition. If you have experience working on gas reciprocating engines, your expertise will be highly respected and invaluable. Our grading system acknowledges and rewards your ambition and experience, offering the potential for significant career growth. We will consider your application if you have experience servicing mechanical plant equipment, large diesel or petrol engines, LGV, HGV, or marine and agricultural equipment. This is a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and develop your career in a dynamic, forward-thinking company.
What you will do
* Perform planned preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance, including overhauls, across a fleet of gas generation assets and associated plant.
* Proactively identify and act on early warning signs of operational issues or potential breakdowns, collaborating with the team to implement preventive solutions.
* Conduct diagnostics on assets experiencing recurring trips and performance challenges.
* Ensure that all tasks assigned by the Operations Performance Team are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
* Maintain detailed records of site visits and service reports following company standards.
* Ensure that personal van stock inventory is maintained accurately, booking out parts as used and that tools are calibrated and maintained in safe working order.
* Ensure HSQE and compliance procedures are adhered to, reporting any incidents to prevent accidents or future breaches.
* Embrace a culture of innovation and best practices by attending internal and external training courses and actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and operational projects.
The South East region has sites around Bedfordshire, Buckingham, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Kent and Essex. This is a Monday – Friday day shift with a call-out system Monday—Sunday to attend breakdowns, with paid standby and call-out payments for each call-out attended on a rota basis. You should be prepared to travel to these locations and work outdoors in all weather conditions. We also offer a voluntary standby service, an opportunity to enhance your earnings and further reward your dedication and commitment.
What we are looking for
* High level of mechanical and engineering skills with service and maintenance experience; electrical knowledge would be a strong advantage, but training will be provided.
* Experience working with Jenbacher and Caterpillar gas engines would be an advantage.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
* Excellent communication skills, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
* Experienced working in a safety-driven comparable industry.
* A commitment to quality and ‘right-first-time’ solutions.
* You have a full UK manual driving license, preferably with field-based work experience.
* Willingness to travel frequently to sites as required across the region.
* You want to be part of a company that values work-life balance, offering flexibility and support with regular performance reviews and opportunities to diversify your skills across new technologies and practices.
What we offer
* Salary plus bonus, target up to 15% paid quarterly & annually with paid standby and call-out rota.
* Company van & fuel card, all tools, uniform and PPE, laptop and mobile.
* 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.
* Pension Scheme with 6% employer contribution.
* Domestic solar, battery and EV charger points scheme, which provides funding towards the cost of installations at your home address.
* Employee Assist Programme, including an app which enables virtual appointments with GPs and mental health counsellors.
* Eye care vouchers and Cycle-to-work scheme.
* Community volunteering charity days.
* Salary sacrifice EV car scheme and company sick pay after a qualifying period.
