Arts Programme Assistant - Leisure
Temporary Contract 26 week Contract 37 hours per week
KEY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The post holder assists with the formulation, management and delivery of an innovative and developmental arts programme to ensure optimum use of the Arts Service and the achievement of income targets.
The post holder will assume other duties relevant to the post reasonably delegated by the Arts Programme Coordinator/delegated officer and participate in the interchange of duties to cover for staff breaks, sickness, leave and staff vacancies, etc.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To undertake the management and delivery of arts festivals, performances, exhibitions, workshops, classes, talks etc., liaising with performers, touring companies, artists, tutors and voluntary personnel as required within the remit of the role.
2. To act when required as the liaison between Council staff and external clients in relation to their arts programming requirements, and to record all appropriate information to ensure best customer care in the delivery of arts programming services.
3. Ensure all Health & Safety legislation, published relevant guidelines and Council Health & Safety policies and procedures are complied with in relation to the services and activities within the facility and also for ensuring any procedures relating to child protection and disability legislation are actioned with the recording of relevant information.
4. To operate a range of computer systems in relation to the preparation of the arts programme and assist with the in-house design, preparation and production of basic publicity/advertising material, to include programmes, exhibition catalogues, posters, flyers, signs and displays.
5. To draft press releases and copy for publication to assist the marketing and promotion of the arts programme. To undertake the placement and updating of promotional material and update the ISLAND Arts Centre website and use social media to promote the arts programme.

It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:
QUALIFICATIONS
1.1 Two A Levels grade A-C, NVQ level 2 or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
1.2 A minimum of three years relevant experience in the arts, must include:
Event organisation
Events Marketing
Where applicants do not hold the qualifications as outlined in 1.1 above, they must demonstrate a minimum of five years- experience as outlined in 1.2 above.
General
1.3- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package
It is desirable that applicants have:
1.4- HNC / HND in a related area (e.g.) graphic design, arts, marketing.
1.5- Working knowledge of Adobe design packages e.g.Photoshop, InDesign, XNView for Windows, MS Publisher and Acrobat Reader.
1.6- Experience of updating websites using a content management system
1.7- Experience of coordinating staff.
1.8- Experience of setting up exhibitions.
Location: Lisburn
Hours: 37 per week
Rate of pay: £16.37 per hour plus accrued holiday pay
