Specialist Technician - Building Services (Healthcare)
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Technician to join our Estates Service team, providing technical support for the routine and non-routine fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and operation of complex building services systems across healthcare sites. Ormskirk/Southport (with flexibility to work across Trust sites).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support: Install, repair, service, and calibrate mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment in accordance with relevant standards and legislation.
2. Preventative Maintenance: Actively participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schemes, ensuring optimal performance of plant and equipment.
3. Fault Diagnosis: Conduct diagnostic procedures using electronic instruments on-site and in the workshop.
4. Heavy Equipment Handling: Manage manual handling of heavy objects (up to 20kg) to ensure equipment is operational.
5. Patient Equipment Maintenance: Clean, decontaminate, diagnose faults, and repair patient-related specialized equipment.
6. On-Call Support: Participate in the emergency On-Call system and respond to out-of-hours issues across multiple Trust sites.
Clinical & Professional Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with Trust management, nursing staff, and external contractors to ensure effective operations and troubleshooting.
2. Adhere to all Trust policies, including Health & Safety and Risk Management, ensuring compliance in all tasks.
3. Conduct risk assessments and provide specialist knowledge to other estates staff.
Administrative & Training Responsibilities:
1. Produce reports on equipment testing and assist site management with maintenance documentation.
2. Undertake mandatory training and keep up-to-date with new technologies and techniques.
3. Cascade training to other staff as necessary and support knowledge sharing.
Essential Criteria:
1. Qualifications: Recognized Mechanical/Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
2. Experience: Relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of building services, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
3. Physical Requirements: Physically fit to carry out manual handling tasks and work at heights (training provided).
4. Skills: Strong fault diagnosis and repair skills; excellent problem-solving abilities.
