We are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Support Workers/Playworkers to work within our Easter and Summer Holiday Hub service and/or Weekend Youthzone services for children and young people with additional support needs.
The role is all about supporting young people to enjoy fun, meaningful activities, including baking, arts and crafts, games, sports, community trips, and outdoor play. Your focus will be to create a safe and engaging environment where young people can thrive and have lots of fun!
As a relief member of staff, you can choose the shifts you want to work, providing you with flexibility. You can choose to work across both services or focus on weekends and school holidays only.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver fun, age-appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, sports, baking, and games.
2. Support young people to participate in outdoor play and community trips.
3. Provide personal care as required, ensuring dignity and respect for each individual.
4. Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where young people feel supported.
Holiday Club (Easter and Summer Holidays):
5. Working hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday - Thursday during the school Easter and Summer Holidays.
6. Location: St Crispin’s School, Edinburgh.
Youthzone – Weekend Service:
7. Working hours: 9:30am – 2:30pm, Saturdays and Sundays, year-round.
8. Locations: Riccarton Hub or Craigmillar Hub, Edinburgh.
Who We're Looking For:
9. Passionate individuals who enjoy working with children and young people with additional support needs.
10. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential.
11. A qualification in childcare (SVQ3/HNC Childcare qualification) is desirable, but not required. Capability Scotland will provide mandatory training and can support you in completing an SVQ level qualification if needed.
12. A flexible approach to work and a willingness to work both holiday and weekend shifts.
