We are seeking an inspiring, strategic leader to take on the role of Head of Education Strategy and Transformation. This is a pivotal post at the heart of shaping and delivering our ambitious vision for education across Leicestershire. You will play a key role in driving educational excellence, reducing inequalities and creating a sense of belonging for all children and young people so that they can live their best life and, as far as possible, become the author of their own life story.
About the Role
1. To lead the Council’s education strategy and transformation in response to national and local policy developments and initiatives.
2. Drive transformation across education services, championing innovation, belonging and system-wide improvement
3. Collaborate with schools, settings, and wider stakeholders to raise attainment and improve outcome – particularly for children and young people with additional needs
4. Oversee major projects, funding bids and policy developments to support strategic goals
5. Provide expert advice to senior leaders and elected members, acting as a trusted source of insight and challenge
6. Building strong partnerships across education, health, social care and communities

About You

You will be a visionary and credible leader with a strong track record in improving outcomes for children and young people. You will have:
7. Relevant professional qualification
8. Track record of achievement at a senior level in a large complex organisation.
9. Experience of leading/working alongside services focussed on vulnerable families or individuals in an education context
10. Developing and delivering major projects and influencing and managing service improvements
11. Experience of successfully leading transformational change in a complex environment
12. Understanding of legislative and regulatory framework and developments applicable to education
13. Ability to lead and give clear sense of direction and purpose, set high standards, build high performing teams and deliver/improve outcomes for children and young people.
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
In addition, we also expect you to share and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.
