About the Opportunity
We align our apprenticeships with our business needs. Therefore, you will be involved in activities in our laboratory at our headquarters in Aberdeen right from the start. Our apprenticeships last around 2 years and over that time you will learn from hands-on experience whilst we support you in working towards achieving your HNC in Applied Science (Chemistry / Biology).
You will learn how our laboratory works and support key activities such as:
1. Preparing and packaging samples and organising shipping for timely delivery to customers;
2. Preparing solutions and media and ordering supplies, ensuring material stocks are up to date;
3. Logging samples for storage and maintaining the chemical inventory;
4. Conducting basic testing on brines and muds according to approved standards and other methodology specific to formate fluids;
5. Reporting of laboratory testing using standard SSF laboratory sample database and other reporting tools;
6. Calibrating lab equipment and carrying out basic tests;
7. Preparing, cleaning, and maintaining laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments;
8. Ensuring lab housekeeping is kept to a high standard.
What qualities are required?
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and driven with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as strong computer skills.
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have 5 Nationals at grades A*-C/9-5 (or equivalent) including Maths and Chemistry - whilst desirable, this is not essential.
