Core responsibilities include managing and improving stock management and control, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Health and Safety rules, and supporting the Operations Management Team in achieving operational targets. The role will have a strong emphasis on inventory accuracy, minimising stock discrepancies, and improving overall inventory processes. Core Role Accountabilities Stock Management and Control Oversee all stock management activities, ensuring inventory accuracy and minimising stock discrepancies. Identify and resolve issues related to stock discrepancies in a timely manner. Ensure proper stock rotation and adherence to FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles. Monitor stock levels and collaborate with other departments to maintain appropriate inventory levels. Implement and monitor systems to improve inventory accuracy and control. Performance Maintain an efficient operation to maximise productivity and reduce costs. Suggest and implement improvements to ensure maximum efficiency in stock handling and storage. Ensure good practices are adopted to reduce product damages, returns, and customer complaints. Generate ideas to increase throughput and improve stock handling processes. Leadership Demonstrate and foster a leadership culture within the Warehouse, promoting a ‘can do’ attitude among all reports. Lead and train Team Leaders to meet operational and inventory control targets. Encourage and motivate staff to minimise turnover and maximise potential. Provide guidance and support to Team Leaders, including communicating team goals and identifying training needs. Challenge and address underperformance within the team constructively. Inventory Systems Develop expertise in the WMS (Warehouse Management System) and ensure effective use of the system for inventory control. Train and develop the team to achieve efficiency in using the WMS. Leverage WMS reports to analyse and improve inventory processes. Administration Ensure all inventory-related paperwork is completed accurately and within specified deadlines. Resolve queries related to stock discrepancies and order issues promptly. Produce and analyse departmental reports to identify trends and areas for improvement. Communication Liaise with other departments and Supervisors to address stock-related operational issues and ensure service availability. Promote good housekeeping and operational standards throughout the warehouse. Conduct team meetings to discuss inventory control processes, best practices, and expectations. Listen to team feedback and resolve issues or conflicts through effective mediation. Health & Safety Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, including the use of PPE. Promote Health & Safety awareness within the team. Stay updated on relevant risk assessments and fire safety protocols. Other Duties Follow and enforce Standard Operating Procedures. Report any matters affecting the protection of the company’s stocks and premises. Assist with other warehouse functions as required, including managing other operational departments. Perform duties of the Stock Manager in their absence. Personal Attributes Qualifications, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies Required: At least 3 years of experience in an operational logistics or warehouse environment, with a focus on inventory control. Self-motivated and results-driven with high attention to detail. Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong PC skills, including experience with WMS and inventory management tools. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Proficient knowledge of Health & Safety practices. Employee training and leadership experience. Strong oral and written communication skills. Desirable: GCSE Grade A – C, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, or working towards.
