The Role: Commercial Controller (Grocery)
This is a career-defining opportunity for a high-performing Commercial Leader to take ownership of the company’s largest business unit, driving a growth-focused commercial strategy that will significantly impact the UK business.
As Commercial Controller, you will:
1. Lead & expand a high-growth business unit, shaping the Private Label strategy across key chilled food categories.
2. Manage & develop key retail relationships, ensuring a clear competitive advantage within major grocery & retail channels.
3. Deliver a high-impact “change agenda”, challenging existing commercial structures to maximise EBIT performance.
4. Own the commercial strategy, aligning with Retail Category Directors, Buyers, and Senior Stakeholders.
5. Develop & mentor a best-in-class commercial team, ensuring a culture of performance, innovation, and strategic execution.
6. Refine & implement a category-led business strategy, unlocking new revenue streams & Private Label growth opportunities.
7. Drive 40% revenue growth over the next 4–5 years, aligning with executive leadership & board expectations.
8. Define growth categories & consumer trends, ensuring innovative NPD pipelines that drive sustainable category growth.

Candidate Profile – Who We’re Looking For
We are searching for a high-impact Senior Commercial Leader with proven success in Private Label, Chilled, or Branded FMCG, ideally within major grocery retail.
Must-Have Experience:
1. Senior Sales / Commercial Leadership in Private Label or Chilled FMCG.
2. Controller-level experience or exceptional Senior Commercial Managers ready for the next step.
3. Deep knowledge of UK grocery retailers (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, M&S, Waitrose).
4. Strong retail category & commercial strategy experience – ability to drive profitable revenue growth.
5. Commercial P&L ownership, with a track record of EBIT performance optimisation.
6. Passion for Food & FMCG Innovation – A “foodie” perspective with strong category & NPD knowledge.
7. Strong leadership & stakeholder engagement – Ability to influence at board level and drive cross-functional alignment.
