Roxel is an Anglo-French Company that designs, develops and manufactures a range of solid propellant rocket motors for use in tactical missiles. Its operations are spread across several sites in the UK and France and it has an annual turnover of about £150M and nearly 1000 staff. The UK operations are entirely based at Summerfield, Kidderminster.
As part of the MP&L team, the MP&L Development Support Contractor will provide technical expertise to the planning team through the supply chain process from supplier, through production to delivery of products to customers. They will support the introduction of best practices into the day-to-day activities of the team, focussing on optimising the use of the MRP system (Tropos) in planning parts and materials to support production.
Responsibilities
* Duties include the analysis and management of MRP planning inputs including demand, and planning parameters plus outputs including parts and materials schedules, and production works orders. Also, the development of processes to support data accuracy, inventory management and the expediting of parts and materials from suppliers inclusive of all clearance activities with support from material technical authorities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Support the development of MRP and the processes used in the MP&L team to ensure parts and materials are available to support production plans in all areas of manufacturing. To include:
* Ensure that MPS schedules are updated to support effective planning.
* Develop all planning parameters in the MRP systems to ensure parts and materials are scheduled to include time necessary for internal testing and quality assurance etc. and works orders created correctly to support customer delivery timing.
* Support processes to ensure that materials with a shelf life are maintained and available as required co-ordinating re-lifing (via Material Technical Authorities) or purchase as required.
* Support Logistics to ensure inventory is appropriately identified, labelled, and placed into stock in accordance with standard operating processes.
* Support the development of processes to optimise the supply of parts to point of use, utilising pull systems where appropriate, to ensure availability in-line with production plans.
* Support the development of processes to maintain material inventories within company goals, whilst minimizing excess, obsolete and expired materials.
* Support stock takes as required and maintain data accuracy and integrity.
* Support the development of processes to provide accurate and timely management reporting of KPIs.
* Support the development of processes to manage changes at both part and project level (NPI) ensuring systems are correctly updated, parts ordered, and production activities planned as required.
* Continually seek improvements relative to inventory and supply, and make recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve methods.
* Support the training of the planning team in system utilisation and industry best practices.
* Ensure Health and Safety standards for all incoming materials are fully communicated and understood.
* Support the creation and maintenance of procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with certifications (including EN9100 etc) and HSE.
* Assume additional responsibilities and projects as required by the business.

* Essential Qualifications
o A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at level 4 or above (must include Maths & English).
o Have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
Experience
* Essential Experience
o Very strong proven knowledge of using and developing MRP. Previous experience working with TROPOS would be an advantage.
o Extensive experience of working in a planning function.
o Strong Leadership with the ability to develop processes and train individuals.
* Desirable Experience
o Continuous improvement; analysing the causes of concerns and developing countermeasures to root causes.
