The Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and academic development of secondary school students with SEMH needs. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with the curriculum and achieve their potential.
* Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
* Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and resilience.
* Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
* Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reports for parents and carers.
Requirements:
* Experience working with secondary school students with SEMH needs.
* Strong understanding of SEMH issues and effective strategies for supporting students.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support or related fields.
