Production Engineer – Robotics - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire – £45,000 to £50,000 – plus pension, benefits and bonus
Melbreck Technical are working with a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist equipment and machinery based in Milton Keynes. They pride themselves on their innovative history stemming from the 80’s and have created a culture based on understanding, co-operation, and partnership.
As they continue to invest in new products, they have identified a need to strengthen their Production team and are looking to hire a Production Engineer to join the business ASAP.
Production Engineer – Role Overview:
The Production Engineer will explore, research, and implement appropriate automation and robotics solutions into manufacturing facilities in support of the manufacture of the company's existing and new product range. The role is expected to develop and will provide an exciting opportunity for personal development and growth within the company.
You will support the manufacture of the Company's existing and new product range by generating effective engineering information, systems, and manufacturing processes whilst championing the implementation of a successful Lean Manufacturing culture.
Production Engineer – Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the engineering review of all customer orders.
2. Generating/maintaining accurate BOM and works order information on the company manufacturing system.
3. Communicate and support drawing issues/changes with production.
4. Administration of controlled builds and maintaining the accuracy of Manufacturing BOM’s.
5. Through liaison with production personnel, review, control, and implement effective and efficient improvements to engineering specifications.
6. Responsible for hands-on analysis, problem-solving, and development of all production processes, methods, and engineering specifications.
7. Maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of all operations and engineering specifications.
8. Development of cellular manufacturing/flow line/single piece flow principles through each of the product/supply areas in line with the Company Standards.
9. Develop and maintain the practices necessary to achieve excellent standards through 5S and Visual Factory.
10. Assist with the specification/set-up and commissioning of new robotic equipment & facilities.
11. Responsible for initial program and adjustments on existing products.
12. The role involves concept design, planning, sourcing, and implementation of automation solutions.
13. Control and monitor company automated weld integrity.
14. Deliver requirements based on control, systems & procedures of all MIG, MAG, GMAW & TIG welding processes and provide technical assistance to all associated departments with welding matters.
15. Integration & implementation of new processes, and drive improvement activities on existing processes.
16. Provide overall direction & control of all MIG/MAG & TIG welding processes, and associated documentation.
17. Development & implementation of internal working standards, documentation & performance reports.
18. Assist in the development & integration of automated/robotic welding processes.
19. Implement & control a stock management system/routine of welding spares.
Production Engineer – Job Holder Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Robotics/Engineering or 5 years relevant experience.
2. Good understanding of robotic applications.
3. Robotic programming and maintenance capability.
4. Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in the manufacturing field preferable.
5. Excellent analytical skills combined with good negotiation and conflict management skills with proficiency in computers would be beneficial.
6. Ability to read engineering drawings.
Senior Production Engineer – Hours and Benefits:
Working hours for the role are 08:00 – 16:30, Monday – Friday (40 hours basic). 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays (rising to 30 days). Discounted gym memberships, 5% contributory pension scheme, Annual Bonus, Life insurance scheme, Health Scheme.
