Cardiff and Vale College Work Based Learning Team are looking for a WBL ALN Inclusion Coach based across Cardiff City Centre and Barry Campuses and employer/apprentices work locations within South Wales.
Responsibilities include:
1. Become a named individual and key support worker for a caseload of ALN learners identified through early identification tools and wider college referrals.
2. Providing direct support to learners with additional learning needs in an educational setting and in their workplace.
3. An understanding of ALNET and Person-Centred approaches and safeguarding responsibilities.
4. Provide intervention sessions with learners with ALN (including mental health and wellbeing issues) as appropriate and provide appropriate additional learning support, both within college and in the learners' workplace.
5. Undertaking support needs assessments to identify additional support needed, i.e., in-class support and ALN coaching.
6. To act as an advocate for apprentices, to identify goals, aspirations, and strengths to help learners make informed decisions relating to learning and skills development needs.
7. Work to provide multi-agency support with college-wide and external support services.
8. Planning, preparing, and delivering 1:1 or small group interventions for learners with ALN daily.
9. Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage own caseload of learners.
10. Supporting learners in using assistive technologies.
11. Maintaining accurate records, reporting on progress of skills development, needs and progress of learners using Microsoft IT systems, including TEAMS, Excel, Word; experience of EBS and Maytas would be beneficial.
12. Share information relating to learner support and progress with tutors, assessors, coordinators, ALN and ESW and quality teams and ensure information is recorded timely and accurately onto centralised systems (EBS) and TEAMS.
13. Refer (in liaison with the academic team and personal tutor) learners requiring exam access arrangements (EAA) via the appropriate referral route.
14. Applicants who hold a recognised qualification in the assessment for exam access arrangements (desirable).
15. Main point of contact for any My Concern referrals to ensure effective and timely recording and support for learners.
16. Sharing good practice, attending weekly work-based learning quality team meetings, quality and risk management meetings, and bi-monthly network meetings, support need assessment meetings, and referral panels.
17. Contributing to the development of relevant resources.
18. Supporting staff professional development and training.
19. Welsh language skills are not essential but would be desirable for this role.
