Outdoor Education Instructor & Technician
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £25,000-£28,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

The Role
The School is seeking to appoint an Outdoor Education Instructor and Technician, to start in September 2025. The post holder will be an energetic and hard-working team player amongst their 13-strong Outdoor Education Department team. Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting in managing the purpose-built equipment stores at the Outdoor Education Centre.
2. Conducting inspections, inventory checks, maintenance activities, and issuing/returning equipment.
3. Setting up and clearing equipment for activity sessions daily.
4. Contributing to equipment procurement planning in conjunction with the Outdoor Education Operations Manager.
5. Participating in Outdoor Education trips and having a passion for expeditionary work.
Work is divided between activity instruction, trip participation, and administration/maintenance work, comprising approximately 50% of term-time work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist in managing the extensive Outdoor Education stores building and external storage areas.
2. Support the management of medical supplies in cooperation with the Outdoor Education Medical Technical Advisor.
3. Support the management of cutting tools in line with the Cutting Tools Competency Scheme.
4. Conduct ongoing repairs and ensure all equipment is issued in a good state of repair.
5. Conduct inventory checks.
6. Conduct PPE inspections (subject to training).
7. Oversee the issue and return of all equipment before and after trips and activity sessions.
8. Set up and return equipment for activity sessions during and after the school day.
9. Support the Outdoor Education Operations Manager with procurement of equipment.
10. Instruct in a wide range of disciplines across Outdoor Education provision.
11. Maintain and service all vehicles, trailers, and manual handling equipment.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Prior experience of climbing and/or climbing instructional qualifications.
2. Experienced expedition leader.
3. Demonstrate flexibility and skill when working in a busy school and department.
4. Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
