The opportunity
The Infrastructure Support Engineer function has an important role to play in relation to our in-house and hosted infrastructure. The successful candidate would support and maintain the infrastructure and also provide project support in relation to the maintenance and migration of Infrastructure. The engineer would also act as an escalation point within the Infrastructure team to provide technical and troubleshooting advice. The position comes with the opportunity to be heavily involved in various infrastructure projects. The candidate would need to be flexible, as some travel within the UK may be required on occasion to provide on-site project support in one of our UK offices, and would also be flexible to cover emergency out-of-hours support on a rotational basis. Responsibilities
Working as part of a wider Infrastructure team, the role provides opportunity for future progression and personal development for self-motivated employees looking to build their career in IT. Your key responsibilities include:
1. Providing project support in the maintenance and migration of Infrastructure.
2. Providing technical support to internal support teams through escalations.
3. Developing and documenting technical infrastructure solution designs and specifications that satisfy the functional and technical requirements.
4. Assessing technical options for each solution in Infrastructure implementation projects; evaluating possible technologies; making and defending technology recommendations.
5. Decomposing technical solution specifications into work packages; documenting prerequisites and dependencies for the work packages; and estimating the level of effort and resource level/skill necessary to implement each work package.
6. Developing technical proofs of concept, as necessary, to validate proposed solutions designs, reduce technical risk, and minimize level of effort uncertainty.
There will be a requirement to travel to RM offices in the UK, sometimes at short notice. There may also be a requirement to visit RM offices outside the UK on occasion.
Experience
Our ideal candidate would demonstrate the following behaviours:
1. Experience in IT Infrastructure design and implementation.

5. Must be a team player, energetic with a positive attitude.
6. Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills.
7. Demonstrates attention to detail.
8. Ability to evaluate technical alternatives considering business needs, technology fit, cost/benefit etc.
9. Ability to deliver on commitments while working on multiple projects concurrently.
Essential
Experience in supporting and managing on-premise, Cloud, and hybrid infrastructures.
In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure.
Exposure to VMWare & Hyper-V.
Familiar with preparing server/network equipment hardware specs.
Experience of Network Management – Routing & Switching, Fibre, VPNs, Aruba Wireless.
Desirable
Experience with Firewalls (Cisco ASA / Fortinet).
Knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS.
Windows Server / Linux.
Knowledge of Backup Solutions such as CommVault and Veeam.
Powershell scripting.
