As they emerge from a period of change following a financial restructuring, they are focused on rebuilding and enhancing their financial strength. To support this initiative, they are seeking an energetic and dynamic Finance & Accounting Director for their European region based in Aberdeen.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Global Finance & Accounting Director Geographies, the Director, Finance & Accounting for the Europe Region will lead all financial functions across the region, ensuring robust financial management and strategic business support.
This role encompasses leadership of accounting, month end close, transactional accounting (AR/AP/Payroll), budgeting, and working capital management. The ideal candidate will provide commercial and operational finance insights, drive cost efficiencies, and uphold high standards of integrity. Integral to the role is partnering with F, P & A, Treasury, Tax, Group Accounting, and Finance Transformation to drive future success within the Finance team. The position requires a leader with gravitas to influence local management, partner with operations, and build a high-performing finance team. Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage accounting, reporting, month end close, transactional & project accounting, and risk management.
* Develop and implement financial strategies to support the region's business objectives.
Accounting and Reporting:
* Development and implementation of financial processes and controls to support the financial goals of the organisation, working closely with the corporate accounting team.
* Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with local and international accounting standards and in compliance with a global accounting policy. Work closely with the corporate accounting team to improve the close process (timeline and accuracy).
* Oversee the preparation of regional financial statements and management reports.
* Manage the annual audit process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Project Accounting:
* Embed a robust project financial control framework.
* Lead project financial reviews, challenging and supporting Project Managers.
Treasury and Risk Management:
* Oversee cash flow management, optimizing working capital and liquidity.
* Develop and manage risk management strategies, including currency exposure and financial risks.
* Ensure effective controls are in place to safeguard company assets.
Transactional Finance:
* Responsibility for AR / AP / Payroll teams and processes.
* Work collaboratively and effectively with group shared service centre to improve process efficiency and effectiveness in these areas.
Commercial and Operational Finance:
* Partner with local management and operations to provide financial insights that drive commercial success and operational efficiency.
* Challenge assumptions and provide critical analysis to support business growth and profitability.
* Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
Team Building and Leadership:
* Build and lead a high-performing, cost-efficient finance team across the region.
* Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
* Provide mentorship and development opportunities for finance team members.
Stakeholder Management:
* Serve as a trusted advisor to the regional leadership team, providing financial guidance and insights.
* Work closely with the head office to ensure alignment and build trust in the region's financial operations.
* Represent the finance function in key regional and corporate meetings.
Qualifications:
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA/ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent required.
* Proven experience in leading finance teams, ideally in the oil and gas services / industrial services sectors.
* Strong understanding and experience of project accounting and project financial controls, with the ability to challenge project managers with credibility and insight.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards.
* Experience in budgeting, treasury, and risk management.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.

* Successful track record of delivering improvements to the top and bottom line results of organisations.
