Our Early Years School has a regular need for experienced Early Childhood Education teachers who can support us on a flexible supply basis throughout the school year. Supply work requires flexibility with availability, with the ability to provide cover for teaching staff absences, sometimes at short-notice. Supply work offers an excellent opportunity to familiarise yourself with our school's curriculum & processes, and can sometimes lead to further work opportunities at the school.
Successful candidates will ideally be UK-trained teachers with certification in Early Childhood Education and experience of the British Curriculum (or similar). Experience in teaching younger children aged 3-5 and 5-7 years is essential.
It is essential that candidates have EU citizenship or valid NL residency permit/work visa, and are located within commuting distance of our school's location in Amsterdam.
Key Responsibilities
* To take responsibility for planning and implementing appropriate work programmes for all children in the designated class, within the framework of the National Curriculum for England and school policies to ensure that the children experience a broad, balanced, relevant, and stimulating curriculum.
* To access children’s progress, maintain records, and provide written reports to parents and carers in accordance with school policies.
* To ensure a close match between the learning experiences offered and the individual needs of the children in the class, so as to give each child an opportunity to achieve the maximum of his/her capability, providing children with opportunities to manage their own learning and become independent learners.
* To create a secure, happy, stimulating classroom environment, maintaining the highest standards of organization and discipline, and a high standard of display both in the classroom and in other areas of the school.
* To foster each child’s self-image and self-esteem and establish relationships that are based on mutual respect, and ensure that the school’s aims and objectives in relation to the curriculum, equal opportunities, and discipline are promoted in everyday classroom organization and practice.
Person specification
* Experience in teaching/working with Early Years or Primary-aged pupils (children aged 3-6 years)
* 3+ years of experience working with the English National Curriculum (or similar)
* Early Childhood teaching certification
* Experience teaching EAL children useful
* Experience in and an understanding of a wide range of learning abilities
* Professional understanding of the educational needs of children
* International School experience is desirable
