Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Anaesthetic department for a senior clinical fellow to join our ACSA accredited department and enhance your skills.
This post is aimed at doctors with at least 2 years anaesthetic experience who are taking a year out from training, or whom are considering pursuing a speciality doctor career. Doctors with less experience will be considered provided they have obtained initial competencies in Anaesthesia, Obstetric Anaesthesia and Critical Care. The responsibilities of the post will reflect the previous experience of the post-holder.
Fellows will have CPD sessions when not covering night duties, some of which will be used to attend the monthly department governance and education half days. Doctors wishing to gain the primary FRCA may use this time to participate in our departmental examination teaching programme. For those aspiring to gain the final FRCA, we offer a programme of support for MCQ, SAQ and VIVA practice.
** Please note this post may close early if we receive a high number of applications **
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work across all areas of anaesthesia, including obstetric anaesthesia and critical care and as such must have basic competencies in all 3 areas. They will have responsibility for acute and emergency care.
We can provide areas of additional interest and support doctors with exams, QI projects, teaching opportunities and are proud of our record in supporting doctors into training posts.
The posts are initially for a fixed term contract of 6 – 12 months but could be extended if mutually agreeable. The posts are designed to be full-time but applicants wishing to work less than full-time will be considered. A 40 hr week job plan (with pro rata basic salary) is also available.
