Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities(SEND)supportteam at Abingdon & Witney Collegeis expanding this September andwe arethereforelooking to appointprofessional,energetic and enthusiastic people with excellent communication skills to support our studentsin a variety of learning environments for the educational year.A good working knowledge ofEducation and Health Care Plans (EHCPs), with a good knowledge of and/or experience of working with young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), as well as strategies for other SEN supported needs,training will also be provided. Experience working with Profound and Multiple Learning Disability (PMLD) and supporting with personal care needs is beneficial but not an assential requirment.
These are varied roles and require dedicated individuals who enjoy working with young people,some of which have complex needs. You will possessthe skillsto support students studying from EntryLevelto Level3,enablingthe students to succeed and achieve their full potentialacademically. The successful candidates will be responsible for working closely with teaching and cross college support staff to ensure that all students progress onto further programmes of study, or employment by achieving all elements of their study programme including maths and English, as well as developing skills essential for life and independence.
The role involves working with students on a 1:1 basis, providing classroom and pastoral support and facilitating workshop activities in-group situations.We work with amazing young people who have a range of learning and support needs,every day is different, andthe support needs will vary.The college hasa friendly, supportive culture focused on bringing out the best in every individual.
