The role

This could be the perfect time for you to join us in as an Identification Unit Assistant in our Criminal Justice & Custody Department.
Are you skilled in advanced video and photograph editing techniques? We are seeking a dedicated professional to prepare computerised identification parades, contributing to crime investigations. In this role, you will produce both standard and non-standard parades, develop new techniques and versions in line with PACE and relevant case law, ensuring professional legal standards are maintained.
What you’ll do
1. Prepare computerised identification parades using video and photograph in accordance with guidance and relevant case law.
2. Attend court as a witness and represent Northumbria Police in court proceedings.
3. Prepare computerised witness albums using video and photograph in accordance with guidance and relevant case law.
4. Receive and respond to enquiries in relation to the creation of identification parades providing advice on identification processes.
5. Maintain accurate records and performance data in relation to the identification process and officer participation for accreditation.
6. Support the introduction and development of software/equipment to capture images or develop identification packages. Provide advice, testing and professional opinion.
