An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the new Pathfinders Family First project, a new and innovative way of working following the Stable Homes Built on Love recommendations from Josh MacCalister, 2023.
The post holder will have a recognised accreditation and be registered with a relevant professional body, such as British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or other. The postholder will be working within the ‘Pre and Post Birth Multi Agency Team’ within Children’s Social Care. This team will include a mix of social workers, health practitioners, family support workers, whilst working alongside third sector agencies. They will be working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver low to moderate intensity psychological interventions to support service users’ build positive attachment and parenting styles, in addition to providing support to assist with managing their emotional wellbeing and mental health needs. They will assess, manage, plan and deliver care to support these needs. The main objective is to improve antenatal/ perinatal mental health, parenting and attachment up to the child’s first birthday. This is a demanding role requiring a high level of professional skills and practice, and the ability to work as part of a wider multi agency team.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for a caseload of women and families with additional vulnerabilities who are being supported within the wider Family Help team in Children’s Social Care.
2. To support pregnant women and mothers of babies with low to moderate mental health and emotional needs.
3. To deliver Parent and child interventions to support positive parenting and attachment styles.
4. To deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help better manage their emotional wellbeing and develop positive coping strategies.
5. To take a lead professional role when required.
6. To undertake home visits in accordance with local guidance and policy.
7. To work in collaboration with the multi-agency team.
8. To be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload in the day-to-day allocation of work.
9. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.
10. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
11. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
12. Visit clients across a wide geographical area.
13. Complete accurate records in line with trust policy and guidance.
Working for our organisation
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) pro rata for part time staff.

Person specification
Qualifications
* A registered core qualification in one of the following at graduate level: Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing, Social Work, Counselling (accredited level), Occupational Therapy, Arts Therapy, Medicine, Psychological Therapy (UKCP registered), Psychology (clinical, counselling, forensic or health).
Experience
* Experience of working in adult mental health services.
* Experience of work in the NHS with adults with complex mental health needs.
* Working in Multi Disciplinary Teams.
* Experience of assessing, planning and initiating care.
* Ability to work under pressure, quickly and effectively, making timely clinical decisions in conjunction with the MDT.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of the team.
* Lived experience of mental health issues or psychological problems as a service user or carer.
Knowledge
* Understanding the Community Care Act and its application.
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
* Awareness of The 1983 Mental Health Act, related legal guidance and ethical practice.
* Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding pregnancy and becoming a parent and the impact it can have on mental health.
Skills
* Ability to manage a complex caseload and act as lead professional.
* Ability to contribute to research and monitoring of the service’s functioning and effectiveness.
* Computer literate with good written skills for report and assessment writing and presentation.
