This role is based in Ferndown and within the home of a lovely young lady with learning difficulties.
Principal Duties:
Working under the guidance of your Employer, the Team Leader and the Senior Personal Assistant, your duties will be to ensure the client leads a full and varied life and her personal needs are met in full.
Place of work is the clients home address in Ferndown.
Hours of work are 2 (24hr shifts) every 28 day period, these will be set day shifts and include a sleeping night with possible care needs. Shifts are 9am-9am on a 4 week rota and will include a weekend shift on a rolling rota basis.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, willing to learn and flexible to offer holiday, sickness and maternity cover when required.
Previous care experience is essential and the successful candidate is to have a suitable aptitude and a caring nature.
Rate of pay is currently: £292.00 per 24hr shift. 6am to 10pm hourly rate of £13.50 and 10pm to 6am set rate of £76.00.
Day to day support for the client:
· Personal care including skin care, showering, oral care, nail care, regular toileting including changing pads, bowel care, dressing and hair grooming.
· Enabling mobility, including moving and handling transfers, providing support when the client is walking and pushing of wheelchair.
· Food preparation and feeding.
· Ensuring the client has a varied and healthy diet.
· Offering regular drinks and ensuring the client consumes adequate quantities of fluid.
· Keep and maintain general food hygiene standards, to include ensuring food is correctly cooked, stored and used within best by dates.
· General cleaning and tidying of the client's home.
· Administering any current medication.
· Reporting any concerns regarding the client's health.
· Accompanying the client to any appointments and activities, if booked on your shift, using your own vehicle (mileage to be reimbursed).
· Trips out both in the car and walking.
· Attendance and contribution to team meetings.
· Respect for the client's confidentiality and discretion at all times.
· Ensuring the client is dressed appropriately for the day, applying sunscreen and hats etc.
· 1:1 interaction, ensuring the client is provided with stimulating activities including when at home, to include general involvement, music and other sensory activities.
· Updating and completing the daily diary and other records needed.
· Following the client's exercise program as directed.
· Follow any guidance and routines put in place to promote wellbeing.
· Any other reasonable task as directed.

Personal Requirements:
During your employment and the time spent caring for the client you will be expected to learn and adapt to her personal needs and to take on board any guidance.
As the client is non verbal and has learning difficulties you would need to develop an understanding of her individual needs and any changes in behaviour that may mean she is in discomfort or pain.
