THE BUSINESS
Our client based in Ashington is seeking to recruit a Workshop Manager to help propel the business within their next chapter of their ambitious growth plans via installing processes, enacting strategy and leading the team towards delivering the production plan.
The organisation has a current turnover of £5M and this is set to rise through a combination of market forces, reputation and future strategic plans. The organisation has a long-standing history and the business can provide stability, yet the opportunity to be part of a growth journey.
This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced Workshop Manager, with strong knowledge regarding Welding & Fabrication processes, general engineering, powder coating and of course people management skills. You will join the organisation and form a central part of the leadership team and work to maintain/develop the businesses excellent reputation within their market.
THE ROLE
8. Responsible for around 20+ reports consisting of Welders, Painters & Machine Operators.
9. Delivering work allocation and progressing works
10. Working with MIG & TIG processes within mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
11. Ensuring the effective delivery of the production plan – ensuring lead times are met in conjunction with cost, quality and time
12. Planning work through production in conjunction with sales, planning and operational teams
13. Acting as a central leadership figure and conducting “Soft HR” activities such as appraisals, recruitment & selection, absence management, holiday authorisation, grievance & discipline, etc
14. Developing shop floor processes, creating & documenting SOP’s
15. Working to install a continuous improvement culture and creating efficiencies
16. Working to help the organisation meet its obligations towards ISO9001 protocols. Displaying knowledge regarding policies, practices and procedures within this
17. Responsible for the overall stock inventory to aid the production schedule
18. Ensuring the effective use of installation teams to install products direct at site and ensuring strong levels of professionalism, customer service and timely installs
THE PERSON
19. Proven leadership experience
20. Time served Engineer
21. Knowledgeable of welding & fabrication processes/techniques gained within a busy workshop environment, including MIG/TIG welding, materials, paint applications and mechanical/electrical processes
22. Prior experience of delivering excellent customer service & focus
23. The ability to work with all stakeholders including tradesmen, management teams, customers and suppliers
24. Strong ability to deliver process management & associated documentation
25. Strong undertaking of ISO9001 requirements & undertaking
