Job Description: Paralegal Position Title: Paralegal Department: Litigation Reports To: Litigation Partner Job Summary: The Paralegal will assist with general litigation and debt collection matters. The role primarily involves fee-earning activities by supporting the litigation partner. This includes taking instructions, corresponding with clients, managing and reviewing documents, drafting chronologies, preparing bundles, receiving calls from clients, attending court, and attending conferences with Counsel. Additionally, the role involves AML compliance, performing administrative tasks such as managing post, maintaining the case management system, and archiving files. Key Responsibilities: Litigation and other Support: Assist the litigation partner in managing general litigation and debt collection cases. Take instructions from clients and other parties involved in the litigation process. Review and analyse legal documents to assist in case preparation. Draft chronologies and prepare bundles for court proceedings. Attend court sessions and conferences with Counsel as required. Communicate with clients via phone and email to provide updates and gather information. Assisting on conveyancing or probate matters if required. Administrative Duties: Open, scan, and save incoming post to the appropriate files on the case management system. ensuring policies and procedures for compliance with Anti Money Laundering Regulations and other relevant legislation are followed Close and archive completed files in accordance with firm policies. Perform filing duties to ensure all documents are organised and accessible. Take outgoing post to the post office and manage other postal duties as needed. Qualifications: A legal/paralegal qualification or training is preferred. Previous experience in a legal environment, particularly in litigation, is advantageous. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in using case management systems and other legal software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Working Conditions: The role is based in our office in High Barnet. Standard working hours are 9am to 5.30 pm, 1 hour lunch break, with occasional requirements to work outside these hours to meet deadlines.
