The School of Army Aeronautical Engineering (SAAE) trainers are a ‘whole-force’ mix of Military and Civil Service personnel, who play a key role in delivering world-class technical training to a broad audience of soldiers across a varied aviation maintenance curriculum to ensure the army’s continuing airworthiness.
SAAE has just been awarded approval as a CAA Part 147 training establishment; this position will include the opportunity to be trained to deliver CAA Cat A training and training to Cat B1.3 and/or Cat B2 levels in the future.
Specialist Instructional Officer (SIO) roles offer interesting, demanding, and rewarding opportunities to shape and nurture the next generation of Army Aviation Technicians and Supervisors, helping to prepare them for demanding operational roles.
These positions are advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
A very exciting opportunity has arisen to join SAAE, and we are actively seeking training specialists with the ability to contribute effectively within a high-performing team. You will be involved in developing Army Aviation Maintenance Apprentices by delivering training programmes that will boost soldiers' workplace performance and confidence. You will be responsible for completing training needs assessments, as well as creating and delivering a theoretical and practical curriculum in an exciting and well-supported training environment.
The successful candidates will be responsible to the Training Managers for:
* Classroom and practical instruction on topics within the aircraft discipline and various allied subjects.
* Delivering Training Objectives that will prepare students for the next step of their career path.
* Building a course-specific training programme, preparing lesson plans and identifying training needs by evaluating trainee strengths and weaknesses.
* Developing or overseeing the production of classroom hand-outs, instructional materials, aids, and manuals.
* Directing structured learning experiences and monitoring their quality results.
* Teaching in other delivery areas, as required, to meet changing operational needs.
Qualifications And Experience
Essential: Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering or comparable qualifications.
Desirable: CertEd (or higher) teaching/training qualification; however, training courses are available for those non-qualified. Ideally, you will have >5 years practical experience in aviation maintenance, combined with experience in instructing others.

* Undertake a short technical examination to identify your areas of strength within Aviation Engineering.
Security
Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check. People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
