An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of a full time scrub Theatre Practitioner ( Band 5) to join our CEPOD team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and dynamic individual with excellent scrub skill in general surgery theatres along with good communication skills to support the team in achieving high standards of patient care within the CEPOD theatres.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for qualified Theatre Practitioners who have got general surgery / CEPOD theatre experience.
If you possess good communication skills, are patient focused, friendly and a team player we want to hear from you. In order to assist you to develop your career, you will be mentored and supported during your employment. You will rotate through the surgical specialties to gain a wide practical and theoretical knowledge base.

Our main CEPOD theatre is very fast paced service which runs 24/7 and covers a wide range of general surgery specialties such as Vascular, Thoracic, HPB, Upper GI, Colorectal, Paediatric, Urology, ENT, MaxFax. We are very dedicated team working in close relationship with the multidisciplinary team and are very proud of the care provided for our patient. Last year we were proud to receive the UHS championship award for the service improvement, acknowledging the advancements made within our service
Person Specification
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* Registered nurse or ODP on relevant part of the register
* Degree or equivalent experience
* Has the ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intraoperative phase of perioperative care, giving concise accurate handover
* Demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to support learners in practice and to create a positive learning environment.
* Practices and promotes the use of evidence-based practice
* Knowledge of current issues within acute health service.
* Understanding of personal accountability.
* Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient.
* Experience of teaching and supporting learners in practice.
* Experience of working within relevant care setting
* Specialist theatre work-based learning course, or mentorship course, post-qualification.
* Interest in research to promote good practice
